- Renowned actor Tim Curry, known for his roles in Rocky Horror Picture Show and Clue, died at the age of 80 from coronary artery disease, according to a new report.
- Records from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said Curry also suffered from a history of stroke and a previously unpublicized diagnosis of kidney cancer.
- Coronary artery disease, sometimes called coronary heart disease or ischemic heart disease, is the most common type of heart disease in the United States, according to the CDC. It is caused by plaque buildup in the walls of the arteries that supply blood to the heart.
- For some people, the first sign of CAD is a heart attack. Chest pain or discomfort, called Angina, is the most common symptom of CAD. It can happen when too much plaque builds up inside arteries, causing them to narrow, the CDC says.
- Being overweight, physical inactivity, unhealthy eating and smoking tobacco are risk factors for CAD, along with a family history of heart disease.
