A healthy lifestyle includes habits that enhance well-being, minimize illness occurrences, and lengthen life. Healthy living entails accepting responsibility for your actions and making wise health decisions for now and the future. A healthy lifestyle is beneficial to the entire body, whether physically, psychologically, or emotionally. As a university student, it is an ongoing struggle to try and even adopt simple healthy habits into our everyday lives, especially with countless assignments, lectures that do not have a set time, extracurricular activities, and a wide range of other challenges. However, we must try to incorporate small but effective healthy habits into our daily lives because, from a habit, we can make it a lifestyle. Hence, the million-dollar question is how do we incorporate healthy habits into our hectic schedules?

To begin, eating a healthy diet is vital to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It is essential to emphasize the consumption of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and any type of protein, such as lean meats, fish, eggs, and nuts. Controlling portion sizes is also important, as is cutting back on foods heavy in sodium, added sugars, and saturated and trans fats, such as fast food, cakes, and cookies. A varied and well-balanced diet can help you feel better and think more clearly. Being a university student and not having the facilities to cook compels me to eat out frequently and not have a balanced meal, which is why in any meal I have, I try to include vegetables and I try to restrict my portion size. Aside from that, we must occasionally treat ourselves because doing so is a wonderful way to reward ourselves for maintaining a healthy diet. In summary, “a healthy gut is the key to a healthy you.” Second, it is critical to get as much exercise as possible. It's difficult to fit exercise into a hectic schedule as a university student, especially after a long day of classes. Students can get their exercise by simply walking to class or using the stairs instead of a lift in any situation. Students will be able to stretch their legs, burn some calories, and relax before their next class by doing so. Students can also join a sports club at their universities to get exercise while having fun.

Furthermore, students are not known for waking up or going to bed early due to assignments or simply to spend time with their friends, but getting enough sleep is critical to living a healthy lifestyle. A good night's sleep is essential for students to stay active, relaxed, and focused on their studies. A student should sleep for at least 7-8 hours per night. Staying up late should only be done when necessary; if done too frequently, students may become exhausted, making things difficult to manage. Lastly, students should learn how to manage stress effectively because stress is a major factor in the development of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and others. A positive attitude towards everything students do will help them maintain a healthy lifestyle. Joining a club or community on campus is a great way for students to get involved, meet new people, and prevent feeling lonely. Students should also remember to take their time and not rush to meet deadlines, as this can lead to burnout. Students should also set goals and not overburden themselves, instead striking an equal balance between studying and having leisure time.

In a nutshell, it can be challenging to maintain a healthy lifestyle as a student, but we can do so by transforming our small daily habits into healthy habits, which will reflect on our lifestyle. We must make smart health decisions now, while we still have the opportunity, for the sake of our future. Students can begin by eating a healthy diet by simply adding fruits and vegetables to their daily diet and exercising by simply taking the stairs rather than immediately implementing a full workout routine. Students can also begin by getting enough sleep to stay active throughout the day, as well as finding effective ways to manage stress by starting small, such as participating in campus activities or simply taking some time away from their stressful schedules. In short, “A healthy life means a happy life, and a happy life means a healthy life.”
