- Transport for London has announced the creation of a new publicly owned bus company, Buses for London, to improve services for passengers and drivers.
- Route 6 between Willesden and Victoria station will be the first service to operate under the new public company when it launches in late 2027.
- A further four routes will be named over the coming year to come into operation under public ownership from 2028.
- The move marks a major shift for London's bus network, which has been largely operated by private contractors for three decades.
- The Mayor of London, Lord Sadiq Khan, and Unite general secretary Sharon Graham both welcomed the decision as a positive step for workers, passengers and climate goals.
