Sir Alex Ferguson once highlighted Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens as one of the early bright spots during the 2025 season.

The legendary United manager made the comments during a November 2025 interview after the young Belgian had only just begun appearing for the first team.

At the time, Lammens had played only a handful of matches, but his performances had already caught Ferguson’s attention.

Sir Alex Ferguson praised Senne Lammens during early Manchester United run

Raceday RTV shared Ferguson’s comments from the November 2025 interview, where he spoke about encouraging signs under the manager, including the goalkeeper.

“Well, they are, the signs… the manager has had some good signs. Particularly the goalkeeper has been outstanding, he’s only played three or four games and he’s looking really,” Sir Alex said.

The praise came when Lammens was still settling into life at Old Trafford after joining from Royal Antwerp earlier in 2025.

Since then, the Belgian has continued to build his reputation. Injuries and rotation opened the door for him to feature regularly, and he has gone on to record multiple Premier League appearances and several clean sheets while establishing himself as a reliable option in goal.

Those early displays are what initially prompted Ferguson’s positive reaction.

Senne Lammens admitted Sir Alex Ferguson’s praise meant a lot

Manchester Evening News later reported Lammens’ reaction after hearing what Ferguson had said about him.

“Yeah, I read it somewhere and at first I couldn’t really believe it to be honest. He is such a big name and especially at this club, so I was a little bit surprised, but it felt really, really good, to be honest. I haven’t met him yet so I’m looking forward to that as well,” Lammens said.

He added: “But coming from him, yeah, it’s really nice to hear as well, someone with so much experience and such a big name at this club. It’s only good to hear.”

For a young goalkeeper still finding his place at Manchester United, praise from the club’s most successful manager naturally carried huge significance.

Lammens acknowledged that hearing Ferguson speak positively about him was both surprising and encouraging as he continued his development at Old Trafford.
