- The UK is set to witness its most complete solar eclipse in 27 years on Wednesday.
- Ahead of the eclipse, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued guidance on how Britons can watch the eclipse safely, such as using special eclipse glasses, a pinhole viewer or colander to view its shadow.
- According to Royal Museums Greenwich, viewers in Scotland will be the first to see the eclipse, with so-called ‘first contact' – when the moon first covers the disc of the sun – at 6:08pm.
- Meanwhile, in Manchester and Liverpool ‘first contact’ is at 6:13pm, and in London, Bristol and Cardiff it is at 6:17pm. Those in Cornwall will see it at 6:18pm.
- The eclipse’s peak will occur between 7:05pm and 7:16pm, depending on viewers’ location, before ending for all by 8.10pm.
