- President Donald Trump was asked about the Lindsay Clancy case at an Oval Office event Friday and admitted that he kept up with the trial.
- “It's hard not to follow. I followed it pretty much. It's a shame. It’s a horrible tragedy,” Trump said. “Looks like it’s a hung jury and I think the judge just said it’s gonna be a mistrial. I assume there’s going to be another trial.”
- He continued, “It’s a terrible situation. Look, she did a horrible, horrible thing. Can't be worse, but you'll find out what the price to pay is. ... But I guess they gotta go through another trial. It's too bad."
- The judge declared a mistrial Friday in the case against Clancy, who faced first-degree murder charges for killing her three young children, after the jury failed to reach a verdict despite seven days of deliberations.
- Lindsay Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, asked Trump to pardon her in an interview Tuesday, stating, “Mr. President, I would hope that you would consider this young lady — the type of person she is, what she’s been through — and consider a pardon.”
