Inside the plot of Tron: Ares
According to Disney, the film will revolve around Ares, an artificial intelligence program, who is sent into the real world on a dangerous mission. This is a significant step forward in the Tron franchise as past installments have mostly taken place in the fictional cyberspace known as The Grid.
Now, however, the characters, ships, and weapons of The Grid have been brought into the real world, and as the trailer shows, the two worlds colliding will wreak havoc and be a spectacle to watch on the big screen.
Exactly how The Grid is back after it was seemingly rebooted by Kevin Flynn in Legacy or how it has manifested itself into the real world is yet to be explained. This will mark Disney’s return to the franchise after 15 years since Tron: Legacy and 42 years since the original Tron (1982).
Who scored the music?
During the CinemaCon talk, Leto announced that the soundtrack of Tron: Ares will be composed by American rock band Nine Inch Nails.
Band members Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have composed films prior (Challengers being their most recent), but the new movie will mark the first score done after their band name.
The franchises’ music is an important part of its films, particularly after Daft Punk created a memorable soundtrack for the former Tron: Legacy.
Release date of Tron: Ares
Tron: Ares will be coming to cinemas on 10 October 2025.
