President Donald Trump called in during the US Independence Day event at Roosevelt House here saying “I love India, I love Modi”.

Joining the celebrations via a phone call with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, Trump expressed his warmth for India.

The event marked the 250 US Independence Day celebrations in Delhi, an event attended by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Delhi L-G Taranjit Sandhu among others.

Composer AR Rahman performed during the event.

Trump’s call came at a time of the US working to repair the strained ties with India.

Rubio met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday and held bilateral talks with Jaishankar on Sunday.
