SHAH ALAM, Sept 15 — People who are experiencing stress, anxiety or depression are urged to reach out to the Selangor Mental Health (Sehat) hotline to speak to qualified counsellors.

State executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said those who are facing difficult times often isolate themselves and hope the problems would go away on their own.

She said among the reasons that contributed to the surge in mental health issues include losing jobs, work pressure, unstable finances and domestic abuse.

“Some may think these are small issues that do not require help from others. However, this is damaging to them and would affect them.

“Do not take these issues lightly. Talk to professional counsellors. We are willing to listen,” she said on Facebook today.

Those who would like to speak to the counsellors can contact the Sehat 24-hour hotline at 1700-82-7536 or 1700-82-753, through the SELangkah mobile app or visit www.drsitimariah.com/sehat.
