- An amber heat warning has been issued for Friday for eastern and central England, with temperatures forecast to exceed 37C and potentially reach 40C in some areas over the next few days.
- The extreme heat is exacerbated by humid conditions and “tropical nights” where temperatures will not drop below 20C in urban areas.
- The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has also issued a red heat health alert, warning of risks to even healthy individuals and advising precautions such as hydration and avoiding peak sun.
- By Sunday, temperatures could be up to 15C cooler, with London expecting highs of 25C and Cardiff 20C, according to the Met Office.
