Woman Charged for Injuring Husband with iPhone in Domestic Dispute
A 39-year-old woman from Nilai is facing legal action after allegedly using her iPhone 13 Pro Max to injure her husband during a domestic altercation. The incident, which took place at their home in Bukit Citra Residensi on February 1 around 1:30 PM, has drawn attention to the unusual use of everyday gadgets in violent disputes.
During the court proceedings at the Sessions Court in Seremban, Mas Suri Abdul Rahman pleaded not guilty before Judge Datin Surita Budin. She was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 326A, which carries severe penalties, including up to 10 years in prison, a fine, whipping, or a combination of these punishments if convicted.
The court granted Mas Suri bail at RM7,000 with one surety and scheduled the next case mention for February 18. Deputy Public Prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni is leading the prosecution in this case.
This incident highlights a growing concern over how common household items, particularly mobile phones, can be misused as weapons in heated confrontations. While smartphones are essential in modern life, they are increasingly being used in acts of aggression, sometimes causing significant injuries. Cases of people using phones to strike others during disputes are not unheard of, as these devices are easily accessible during arguments and can inflict harm due to their solid construction.
The case also sheds light on domestic conflicts escalating to physical violence, raising questions about anger management and conflict resolution in households. While legal action is one approach to addressing such incidents, experts emphasize the importance of seeking help through counseling or mediation to prevent disputes from turning violent.
As the case progresses, the court's decision will serve as a reminder of the legal consequences of using objects, even everyday gadgets, to inflict harm on others.
