- The UK is experiencing a third heatwave, with yellow heat health alerts from the UKHSA remaining in place for most regions until 9pm on Friday 17 July.
- Forecasters anticipate a very slight decrease in temperatures this week, though many areas will continue to experience dry, fine, and very warm weather.
- High pressure is expected to persist, gradually shifting the focus of the hottest conditions towards the South West of England.
- Tom Crabtree, deputy chief forecaster, said last week: “While temperatures are expected to ease across south-east England through the weekend and into next week, it won't be a straightforward end to the warm weather.”
- The Met Office confirmed that last month was the hottest June on record for England and the second-warmest for Wales.
