Your access to the good life in Malaysia

Hong Kong is a paradise for pet owners. With an abundance of pet grooming salons, pet-friendly hotels, and dedicated parks, the city’s love for animals is pretty evident. And what better way to spend a weekend than dining out with your four-legged friend? To make your outings even more enjoyable, we’ve rounded up some of the best pet-friendly cafes in Hong Kong.

We’ve scoured every corner of Hong Kong to bring you the best pet-friendly cafes the city has to offer. From Sheung Wan to Sai Kung and Sham Shui Po, there are plenty of gems to check out. While many places do welcome pets, it’s disappointing when the only option is a cramped outdoor bench for your furry friend. That’s why we’ve carefully selected spots where pets are either allowed indoors or have spacious outdoor areas to lounge comfortably. Some of these cafes also go the extra mile with specially curated pet menus, but if not, you can always find something on the regular menu to treat your four-legged companion.

Pet-friendly cafes offer your pets a refreshing change of scenery and a chance to socialise with other doggos. Plus, you might make some new friends too with fellow pawrents. That said, always be mindful of your pet’s temperament. While some thrive in social settings, others may find it stressful. Keep an extra eye out in tighter indoor spaces, where curious paws (or claws) could lead to accidental bumps or spills. At the end of the day, a little awareness goes a long way in ensuring a pleasant experience for everyone, pets and humans alike. Plus, pups, cats, bunnies, and other pets are usually welcome too.

What’s cuter than a cosy Japanese-themed cafe   with tatami flooring and clean wooden aesthetics? sap.saan in Sham Shui Po neighbourhood is famed for its enormous Mount Blanc Chestnut and colouful, refreshing teas. Given the small space, seats are quite limited, but the upside is that you can bring your furry friends indoors so they can cool off on a hot summer afternoon. And as far as we’re aware, the cafe currently does not have treats for doggos, so you may want to pack some of your own

Hooman by the sea

West Kowloon is a beloved hotspot for pet owners to let their furry friends roam free. While you’re there, make sure to stop by Hooman by the Sea. Their hotdogs (named after dog breeds, though we’ll let you ponder that quirky detail) are a no-brainer, especially when paired with fizzy lemonades or refreshing summery cocktails. We also adore their thoughtful pet menu, featuring wholesome options like healthy meat patties and tartare.

If you’re planning to explore the neighbourhood more, check out our guide to West Kowloon.

Furry friends, especially doggos and puppies often need plenty of space to spark their curiosity. What we love about the Blend & Grind branch at Kennedy Town is the semi-outdoor pet area that’s not simply just a long stool. From smoothies to salads, and sandwiches, there’s plenty to nosh on. If you’re looking for options for your pets, there are steaks and you can also ask the staff to adjust the dishes to your pet’s liking.

Once exclusive to Sai Kung’s laid-back neighbourhood, Little Cove Espresso has since expanded to Kennedy Town, Quarry Bay, and Admiralty. But if you ask us, the original remains the best, particularly for pet lovers. The spacious alfresco seating, complete with umbrellas for shade, makes it the perfect Sai Kung Cafe for your pup to lounge with their tongue out. We also love the cafe menu that offers everything from smoothies to breakfast bowls and brunch dishes. PS, the French Toast here is an absolute must.

Elephant Grounds

Hands down, one of the most popular cafe chains in Hong Kong. Elephant Grounds is popular amongst the digital nomads and pet-owners alike. The Tsim Sha Tsui location at K11 Musea is particularly striking for its terrace where you can park your pet strollers. Other great locations to bring your pets include Star Street and Sheung Wan (they’re allowed in the outdoor area). Great for a weekend brunch, grab healthy plates of toasts, Shashuka, or pancakes, and pack some nibbles for your furry friends.
