On 8 Oct 2026, the Law and Institutional Reform Minister in a written parliamentary reply 12 politicians were granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) across 19 criminal cases between 2010 and July 2026.

Obviously, this revelation created further questions.

Instead of naming these politicians and the specific charges they faced, the Law and Institutional Reform Minister reportedly declined to list them but instead directed lawmakers to obtain them directly from the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC), which holds the official prosecution records.

Taking the cue from the former chairman of Yayasan Bank Rakyat who on 10 Oct 2026 in a press conference, told reporters “Tanya ChatGPT, semua keluar” (Ask ChatGPT, everything will show up) when questioned about his personal business dealings, a check was made with ChatGPT.

The public is now asking who are these 12 other than the present DPM and PM6 who was given a DNAA for the SRC International Sdn Bhd money laundering case in 2025.

Projek SAMA, in collaboration with Malaysiakini, launched the Prosecutorial Accountability Watch (PAW) database to track 33 high-profile court and corruption cases involving current and former politicians across both government and opposition blocs (such as Najib Razak and Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) to combat perceived double standards (dua darjat) in the justice system.

In a report titled `Big guns dodging the bullet in graft cases’ dated 9 Dec 2025,Projek Sama found that PM6 is only one of 21 former and current elected politicians who have been charged with corruption in 28 cases since 2018, when Pakatan Harapan was first elected on a promise of stamping out graft.

The Projek Sama study showed that the bulk of them - 11 out of 28 cases - ended in a discharge amounting to acquittal (DAA) for the politician involved, which equates to being found not guilty.

Of the 28 cases, 5 resulted in a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA), where the accused is released but is not fully freed as they can still be charged again in the future.

Only 1 has led to an individual actually serving time in prison.

The remaining 11 cases are still on-going, where nine are still at the trial court level and two are being appealed at the federal court.

The policiticans given a DNAA are,

  1. Nasharudin Mat Isa, former Bachok MP, a DNAA given on Sept 22, 2020, for 16 of the charges, following the prosecution’s partial acceptance of a letter of representation.

Politicians who were given a discharge amounting to acquittal (DAA) are,

  1. Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Maslan, Pontian MP who was acquitted on Sept 29, 2021 after the prosecution withdrew charges when Ahmad paid a RM1.1 million compound.
  2. Tun Musa Aman, a DAA was given on Jun 9, 2020, after the prosecution withdrew its case.
  3. Tun Daim Zainuddin, a DAA was given on Nov 20, 2024, after his passing.
  4. Datuk Noor Ehsanuddin Harun Narrashid, former Kota Tinggi MP, a DAA given on Sept 1, 2021, after prosecution withdrew charges. MACC determined that all the transactions had been advances which had been paid back.
  5. Datuk Rozman Isli, Former Labuan MP, granted a DAA on June 26, 2023, after prosecution failed to prove a prima facie case.
  6. The late Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who was acquitted on Jan 16, 2026 following his death on Dec 5.
  7. Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad, was granted a DAA on Jan 5, 2023. Prosecution applied for DNAA after notifying the court it was withdrawing charges.
  8. Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim was fully acquitted by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on December 12, 2022, of all nine corruption and money laundering charges after the prosecution did not object to his defense's application for a full acquittal, following further investigations by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC),
  9. Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor was acquitted in July 2021.
  10. Lim Guan Eng was granted a full discharge and acquittal on September 3, 2018 regarding his corruption charges over a bungalow purchase and land conversion.

Comparatively, how many non politicians were given DNAA or DAA for suspected graft cases?
