The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday appointed Union Minister Harsh Malhotra as the new president of its Delhi unit, replacing Virendra Sachdeva ahead of upcoming organisational and civic-level political activities in the national capital.
The appointment was announced by BJP national general secretary Arun Singh and came into immediate effect.
A first-time Member of Parliament from East Delhi, Malhotra is currently serving as Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Minister of State in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
A longtime BJP leader from Delhi, he has earlier served as Mayor of the erstwhile East Delhi Municipal Corporation and held several organisational responsibilities within the party.
Known for his strong grassroots connect in East Delhi, Malhotra played an active role in the BJP’s campaign during the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
