
- The Oscars are expected to pay tribute to Hollywood legends such as Robert Redford, Diane Keaton, Val Kilmer, Catherine O’Hara, Terence Stamp and Robert Duvall at this Sunday’s ceremony, who all died in the past year.
- Host Conan O'Brien has also confirmed that the event will feature a special tribute to The Princess Bride and This is Spinal Tap director Rob Reiner, describing it as a “very powerful part of the show”.
- Reiner, who, along with his wife Michele Singer Reiner, was killed in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, 14 December.
- Oscars producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan announced that this year's in memoriam segment will be longer than in previous ceremonies.
- Mullan expressed hope that the tribute would be moving and would do justice to the “incredible people” lost this year.
