Whoopi Goldberg was challenged by her The View co-hosts for her voter ID claim during a SAVE Act discussion.

On Tuesday’s (24 March) episode of the ABC daytime talk show, the 70-year-old claimed that you have to present your ID to prove your citizenship whenever voting. “I always have to give them my driver's license so they can make sure that it's me.”

The SAVE Act, backed by President Donald Trump and GOP lawmakers, would require proof of citizenship to vote. Whilst the legislation has been passed by the House, it will still need to pass through the Senate.

Her claim was disputed by co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines. “You don’t have to do that in New York,” Hostin said.
