JAKARTA: After starting commercial operation, Whoosh High-Speed Train has reportedly boarded 7,000 people as of Thursday, October 19, 2023. General Manager Corporate Secretary PT KCIC Eva Chairunisa stated that the number of passengers increased nearly twice the amount of passengers the day before.

In total, she said, there are 31,000 tickets sold from October 17 to 23, 2023.

“Four trains are operating in a 96 percent occupancy rate, while a number of other trains are operating in 40 to 70 percent occupancy rate,” she said in a statement on Friday.

Noting the enthusiasm, PT KCIC added 12 more schedules for Whoosh, especially for this weekend, October 20 to 22, 2023. According to the data, Whoosh’s tickets for the weekend have been sold out, and the additional trip schedule would hopefully accommodate any potential passengers who failed to secure the tickets before.

“Changing scheduled and cancellation of the trips can only be done in the station two hours prior to the scheduled trip at the latest,” she said.

There were such instances, however, in the middle of Whoosh’s operational hour yesterday where 31 passengers missed their scheduled trip from Padalarang Station, set to embark at 06:56 a.m. local time. The cause was an issue in the Feeder Train from Bandung Station. Meanwhile, Whoosh still proceeded with their scheduled boarding time, causing these passengers to miss the train.

As compensation, PT KCIC allowed these passengers to board the next scheduled Whoosh trip at 09:02 a.m. local time without purchasing another ticket.

“Moving forward, PT KAI will prepare one additional Feeder Train in Bandung Station as an anticipation,” Eva concluded.
