- Mr Vince previously labelled new drilling a betrayal, but now argues domestic extraction makes sense to save money and create UK jobs during the energy transition.
- Decisions on the projects were quashed following a legal challenge by Greenpeace, leaving Labour ministers to determine whether drilling should proceed.
- Developer Adura claims the sites will generate £10.8 billion in investment, whereas environmentalists warn Rosebank alone could generate emissions equal to 70 per cent of annual UK totals.
- Ministers are expected to make a prompt decision on the fields following the conclusion of public consultations.
