KENINGAU: Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) candidate Datuk Jake Jikulin Nointin said he chose a party that has nothing to do with parties from outside Sabah.
“We always say we want to be like Sarawak and now there is only one party at the moment, which is KDM. It is not tied up with any party from Malaya,” he said.
“Mine is the struggle for the people of Sabah in general and Keningau in particular.
“I have taken the decision and determination to move together with KDM as a platform for my new struggle.
“I had to leave Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) due to its ties with Barisan Nasional (BN) which blocked PBRS’s efforts to function as a local party in Sabah,” he said.
According to him, it was not in line with his principles and struggle which prioritised local parties that are more friendly to the people of Sabah.
Hence KDM is a Sabah party that has no ties to any Malaya party.
Jake was previously a Warisan in the 2020 state election.
“I have seen it as a right channel to fight for the rights and interests of Sabah, especially progress for the Keningau parliamentary constituency,” he said.
