I wonder what pillow talk at night is like between Senator Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez most especially these days. For certain, much of it centers on the lawmaker and the imbroglio he’s enmeshed in. Oh, a caboodle of it!
This is not to assume though that the TV host-actress has zero input. A smart girl that Mariel is, she has a sensible thought or two to say, a point she so passionately drives home and does politely.
Merely asking questions is already participative. At least, she’s no total ignoramus for a stunning beauty.
In a recent interview with ABS-CBN News, Mariel admitted to getting least affected by her husband being the target of public outrage over his alleged obstruction of justice in letting Sen. Bato de la Rosa evade arrest by local authorities, among others.
“With everything thrown our way, kung mahina ako, baka. (If I were faint-hearted, I’d probably get affected). But I’m surprised with how strong I am. At this point, it’s only God I can cling to. Also, perhaps at my age, I leave it all up to God,” Mariel said.
The mom of two likewise attributes her unfazed, devil-may-care demeanor to Robin’s mindset. “I’d say that Robin is so great. He would tell me never to waste my time on it. I learned that from him!”
Mariel added that her hubby can rest assured she fully trusts him when it comes to decision making. Hence, there’s no reason for her to get her feathers ruffled. “My question is always, are you okay? If he tells me he’s okay, then we’re all good. That has always been the case. If Robin says okay, I need not worry a bit, coming from him. Everything is normal!”
But how would Mariel explain Robin being dragged, whether knowingly or otherwise, into this political hullabaloo?
“Pulitika lang naman ang magulo, hindi kami (It’s politics that’s chaotic, not us)!”
Politics, and not the very people who make it up — did I hear you right, Mrs. Padilla? So what about your hubby who’s very much entrenched in it?
