- Prime minister Andy Burnham sent a surprise video message to a newlywed couple after the bride publicly asked him to stay away from No 10 North on their wedding day.
- Heron House, which houses the register office where Sarah Burwin was married, is also the site of the Prime Minister's new regional outpost in Manchester.
- Ms Burwin had previously filmed a light-hearted message asking Mr Burnham to refrain from attending with police escorts so the heightened security presence would not disrupt her wedding.
- Although Mr Burnham honoured her request to stay out of the way, he recorded a personal video wishing the couple well and joking that a potential DJ set would have to wait for another occasion.
- The newly opened No 10 North facility is central to Mr Burnham's devolution strategy to decentralise power from Westminster, and it will also host meetings for the relaunched National Economic Council.
