- Comedian Shane Gillis has faced widespread backlash following his return to host Saturday Night Live.
- Gillis sparked outrage during his opening monologue after describing women who wear activewear to the gym as whores.
- He also accidentally swore during a live Dr Seuss-themed sketch, an error NBC edited out of online clips.
- While Gillis apologised to the audience at the end of the broadcast for swearing, viewers criticised him for failing to address his offensive comments about women.
- The comedian was previously hired by SNL in 2019 but was fired before making his debut after past racist and homophobic jokes resurfaced.
