  • A new survey indicates that over half (51 per cent) of UK adults are concerned about artificial intelligence (AI) impacting their jobs, either through displacement or significant alteration.
  • The Trades Union Congress (TUC), which commissioned the poll, noted that concern is particularly prevalent among younger workers, with 62 per cent of 25- to 34-year-olds expressing fears.
  • The TUC warned that if left unmanaged, AI could exacerbate inequality by degrading or displacing jobs, and called for companies to invest in workforce skills and training.
  • Major employers such as BT, Amazon, and Microsoft have previously suggested that advances in AI could lead to job cuts, though experts predict varied impacts across different sectors.
