Wife of bodyguard shot in KLIA expresses relief over suspect’s arrest

PETALING JAYA: The wife of the bodyguard, Muhammad Nur Hadith, who was shot in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has expressed her relief over the suspect’s arrest.

According to the New Straits Times, the wife, Siti Noraida Hassan, 38, also expressed her gratitude and called for the suspect, to receive “appropriate punishment” for his actions.

Siti thanked the police and other parties involved in the suspect’s arrest.

On Monday (April 15), the suspect, Hafizul Hawari, 38, was arrested at Kota Bharu, Kelantan at around 3pm.

Nur Hadith was shot at 1.20pm on Sunday (April 14) while standing in for another colleague.

The suspect had targeted his wife and Nur Hadith’s employer, Farah Md Isa, and fired two shots but one of them missed and hit the bodyguard’s abdominal area.

The bodyguard was reported to be in stable condition. In the meantime, Hafizul has been remanded for seven days, which ends on Monday (April 22).

The remand order was obtained under Section 117 of Criminal Procedure Code.
