Recently, news of a crocodile spotted in the river near Mid Valley went viral, with crowds seen gathering on the bridge and at the roadside to catch a glimpse of the reptile.
It was also reported that the authorities deployed cages in the river, hoping the reptile would make its way in.
However, as the saltwater crocodile hasn’t been captured, it was reported that the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) will now use duck meat to lure the crocodile.
Federal Territories Perhilitan director Ishak Muhammad said the operation to capture and relocate the three-metre-long reptile has entered its third day.
“We previously used chicken meat, but it was unsuccessful, so we decided to switch to duck meat instead,” he told the New Straits Times.
Yesterday, drone surveillance by Perhilitan captured new images of the crocodile in the river near the shopping mall.
Ishak said they deployed a drone to monitor the river in hopes of locating the reptile.
The drone recorded images of the crocodile approximately 200 metres downstream from where it was last seen.
