Amidst a swirling controversy, Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, the Kelantan Umno chief and member of the Umno Supreme Council, has urged the unity government to shed light on a purported "supplementary order" allegedly issued by the former king, granting Najib Razak the privilege to serve the remainder of his sentence at home. Jazlan emphasized that the populace deserves clarity and a legal rationale from the government to quell any doubts surrounding this contentious issue.

The call for transparency stems from Najib Razak's recent application, submitted on April 1, demanding the government to unveil the elusive "supplementary order" supposedly sanctioned by the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah. Najib contends that the order was clandestinely issued during a meeting of the Federal Territories Pardons Board on January 29, the eve of Al-Sultan Abdullah's term conclusion. However, Najib alleges that the board failed to announce the existence of this order on February 2, casting doubts on the government's compliance with the royal decree.

Expressing concern over the potential ramifications of the government's silence, Jazlan articulated that any perception of reluctance to uphold the "addendum order" could be construed as an attempt to manipulate the king's decree. He stressed the imperative for the government to address the populace's queries regarding the alleged supplementary order, asserting the need for accountability and transparency in this matter.

Earlier developments in the saga include Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's affirmation, through an affidavit, of the existence of the purported order issued on January 29. Zahid, corroborating Najib's claims, disclosed that he had personally examined a copy of the alleged order on Tengku Zafrul Aziz's mobile device during a meeting at Zahid's residence. These revelations further amplify the urgency for governmental elucidation on the matter, as the credibility of the purported order gains additional support from senior political figures within Umno.

The intrigue deepens with the revelation that on February 2, the Federal Territories Pardons Board halved Najib's prison sentence in the SRC International case from 12 years to six, alongside a reduction of his hefty fine from RM210 million to RM50 million. These developments underscore the significance of the alleged supplementary order and the necessity for the government to dispel any ambiguity surrounding its validity and implementation.

Currently serving his sentence at Kajang prison, Najib Razak's fate hangs in the balance amidst these allegations and demands for transparency. With his slated release on August 23, 2028, the urgency to address the veracity of the supplementary order intensifies, demanding swift action and unequivocal clarification from the unity government.
