Climax K-drama season 2

The noir political thriller Climax wraps up its central conflict on the surface, but hidden beneath that resolution lies a far more dangerous road. With Bang Tae-seop and Chu Sang-ah rising to positions of power, yet still threatened by forces they cannot fully destroy, fans are left wondering: will the K-drama Climax return for season 2? Here is everything we know so far.

Directed by Lee Ji-won, the K-drama follows Bang Tae-seop (played by Ju Ji-hoon), an ambitious prosecutor pursuing political power, and Chu Sang-ah (played by Ha Ji-won), a disgraced actress navigating scandal and survival. Their lives are shaped by Lee Yang-mi (played by Cha Joo-young), a powerful chaebol figure who wields influence through manipulation, blackmail and media control.

As of now, there is no official confirmation of a second season of the thriller K-drama Climax.

However, the ending strongly suggests that the story will continue. Although Tae-seop and Sang-ah succeed in exposing Yang-mi and getting her arrested, her subsequent pardon and release indicate that her influence is far from over. At the same time, Tae-seop’s growing political power and Sang-ah’s rising global profile create new stakes that could easily drive a follow-up season.

The final moments, especially Yang-mi trying to contact Sang-ah again after her release from prison, leave the story deliberately open-ended, hinting that the real conflict has only just begun.

What happens in the finale of Climax?

In the finale of Climax, Hwang Jeong-won (played by Nana) dies protecting Sang-ah from an assassin. Before her death, she leaves behind crucial evidence linking Yang-mi to multiple crimes.

Using this evidence, Tae-seop and Sang-ah expose Yang-mi, leading to her arrest. Over time, Tae-seop rises in politics, becoming a major national figure, while Sang-ah re-establishes herself as an internationally recognised actor.

However, the victory does not last. Two years later, Yang-mi is released, bringing back uncertainty and fear. The series ends with Tae-seop and Sang-ah standing together in public, clearly aware that their battle is not over.
