One of Netflix’s most popular K-drama shows of 2024, Love Next Door just aired its last episode and left fans wondering whether a season 2 will ever happen. Here’s everything we know about a probable second season of the romantic drama.
A Yoo Je-won directorial, the show premiered on Netflix and South Korean channel tvN on 17 August 2024 and skyrocketed to fame for all the good reasons. Lead actors Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min successfully won fans over with their sizzling chemistry. Meanwhile, the simple plot and pleasing cinematography of the show further pulled in viewers. Eventually, Love Next Door became a comfort show for all K-drama enthusiasts.
What happens in the finale of the K-drama Love Next Door?
Over the 16 episodes of the tvN Korean drama Love Next Door, viewers see childhood friends Seung-hyo and Seok-ryu reuniting as adults and eventually getting entangled in a passionate romance. In the finale, Seung-hyo and Seok-ryu’s parents resolve their issues and accept their children’s relationship. Soon, Seung-hyo becomes the new public architect for Seoul. Meanwhile, Seok-ryu’s father gifts her his old restaurant. She renames it and gives it a personal touch. Within six months of its opening, the restaurant wins an Orange Ribbon Award.
Later, Seok-ryu and Seung-hyo decide to postpone their wedding by a year so that the former can focus on her new restaurant. However, as the episode ends, the duo promises to hold each other’s hands through thick and thin.
Could there be a Love Next Door season 2?
At the time of writing, there is no official plan for the K-drama Love Next Door season 2 being in the works.
Fans, on the other hand, are hopeful that the makers might announce a second instalment as the highly awaited wedding sequence of Seung-hyo and Seok-ryu was not shown in the final episode. However, Love Next Door was released on Netflix as a limited series, which further lessens the possibility of a second season.
