Prince William may only travel to the United States for the World Cup if England or Scotland make the final.
Last year, it had been suggested that the Prince of Wales, who is the Patron of the Football Association, could follow in his father's recent footsteps and by making the transatlantic trip to support the Three Lions and Tartan Army.
However, given the war in Iran and subsequent public spats between Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Donald Trump, this now looks more unlikely, according to the Daily Mail.
This is despite King Charles's successful diplomatic efforts in April, when he visited the US on a four-day trip.
The sovereign appears to share a friendly relationship with the US President, who consistently lauded the monarch as "fantastic" and "a great King".
Royal aides, however, are looking to avoid an awkward meeting between Mr Trump and William.
Kensington Palace has not yet confirmed the prince's plans for the World Cup.
William is instead believed to be enjoying games in the comfort of his own home in Windsor, which is where he watched England's opener against Croatia on Wednesday.

The Prince of Wales sent a personal message to the squad ahead of their 4-2 victory.
After England posted on X: "Our @FIFAWorldCup journey starts here!", the royal account responded: "Good luck to England ahead of their first World Cup group match tonight!
"Here's to a great tournament ahead. W".
William travelled to three England games during their journey to the final of Euro 2024, in which he watched on from the sidelines with Prince George.

However, he has not attended a World Cup fixture since South Africa in 2010, in which he attended alongside his brother, Prince Harry.
The Prince of Wales has long been one of England's most prominent football supporters.
In the weeks leading up to the tournament, he made a surprise visit to St George's Park to meet members of England's backroom staff and wish the team well before they departed for North America.
While best known as a devoted supporter of Aston Villa, William has frequently attended England matches and major international tournaments in both his royal and FA roles.
Recently, William travelled to Istanbul as he watched his beloved Villa beat German side SC Freiburg 3-0 to clinch their first European silverware since 1982.
The Prince of Wales could be seen characteristically struggling to contain his delight, as he screamed with emotion and thrust his arms into the air, before belting out a celebratory Sweet Caroline with thousands of Villa supporters.
