Newcastle United 'don't want the season to stop' following their flying start to the Premier League, according to their star striker.
Callum Wilson is echoing the thoughts of everyone at the club when he discussed their incredible star to the new campaign.
The Magpies are in the top four after the first quarter or so of the season, impressing in their games against top sides as well.
They were only narrowly beaten by Liverpool, drew against Manchester United, and beat Tottenham last weekend.
Wilson told the BBC's Footballer's Football Podcast: "You don't want the season to stop, you don't want teams to gather momentum in the off-season break and you also want to carry on your own form and momentum. If you go to the World Cup, you're like I don't mind it stopping because I get to experience the World Cup.
"But if you don't, it's almost like you'd rather carry on playing a Premier League campaign rather than having time off to go here, there and everywhere with training camps. You'd rather just play, play, play, which is what we're used to.
"The season is a marathon, not a sprint. Yeah, we've sprinted and done well until this winter break coming up, and we've still got points to play for. But then it's about the long-term goal and plan, and if you start badly after the break, you still have three or four months to pick it up.
"You don't want to start like a house on fire and fade away. I could do without the break to be honest, you don't want it when you're flying.
"It's going to be nice for everyone to recharge, you could take it as a positive. We play a high-tempo, high-intensity style of play, so the break can only be a positive for people to recharge, rejuvenate and go again."
