The source states that manager Jurgen Klopp wants to bring in Ait-Nouri as early as the winter window.
He would serve as cover for Andy Robertson, who is out long-term with a shoulder problem.
However, Wolves raised significant funds selling players in the summer and are not under any pressure to sell at present.
