Wolves boss Gary O'Neil praised his players after their 2-1 defeat at Arsenal.

Wolves lost 2-1 on the day, though O'Neil found positives from the defeat.

He said, When you concede two early goals you think it could be a long afternoon, but I knew the lads understood the plan well and that it was going to be solid and sound.

I knew that we'd suffer some moments against Arsenal because everybody does, and I felt we'd find a foothold and find a way back in and it was a long way back to get anything from the game, but we didn't fear it would get away from us.

The lads stuck together and gave everything they could to get us back in the game and gave Arsenal a little scare at the end. The lads should take a lot from that performance because we were short in numbers today, three young lads on the bench for their first time, we had to change the goalie, so to keep going, stick together and give Arsenal a scare, it was a good effort.

I'm not really frustrated by how long it took us to threaten them, they're a good side, I'm frustrated with the first goal because it was something we worked hard on, getting good numbers around Saka, and maybe we were a little bit undecisive in our penalty area.

The second goal was obviously an incredible goal and we could have dealt with it better, but we're very proud with what we produced from there.

We came here with a lot of people missing, we were short on numbers and the way the lads stuck together, the way they found a way back into the game and kept going, never gave up. 2-1 down, managed to give Arsenal a few scares, so I was pleased with the performance and the commitment but going 2-0 down makes things difficult."
