Wolves are to break their transfer record to sign Sporting CP midfielder Matheus Nunes.

Bruno Lage switched his focus to the 23-year-old after Fulham moved in on their original Sporting target Joao Palhina.

Lage is ready to battle with Frank Lampard's Everton for Nunes, who has made eight appearances for Portugal and is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in the country.

Record says a deal for €45million plus €5million in add-ons has been agreed.

Wolves are hoping their close links with super-agent Jorge Mendes could prove decisive as they look to put down a major marker this summer.
