PAPAR: A 35-year-old woman died on the spot after being hit by a car while attempting to cross the road along Km 12, Jalan Lama Papar-Kota Kinabalu, Saturday.

District Police Chief Supt Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said the incident occurred at 4.30am when a Toyota Hilux driven by a 39-year-old man was heading towards Bongawan from Putatan.

“On reaching the scene that was dark, the driver hit the victim who made a sudden cross from the left side of the road.

Kamaruddin said the woman was pronounced dead by a Papar Hospital medical officer at the scene.

The body was brought to the hospital’s forensic unit for post-mortem and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
