A restaurant in Penang has appealed to a woman to return a handphone she allegedly stole while patronising the premise.
The alleged act was caught on CCTV, where the 14-second footage showed the woman putting her handbag on top of the phone placed on the cashier counter before sliding it off smoothly and into her hand.
In the caption, the restaurant wrote that although the value of the phone isn’t much, it contained data that was vital for the business.
“If it was taken by mistake, we kindly ask that you return it to the shop. We really don’t want escalate the matter. We just want to get the phone back.”
Police report made
After two days of waiting for the woman to turn up, the restaurant shared another update yesterday (Aug 14), saying it had no choice but to lodge a police report.
The owner said relevant CCTV footage, phone information, and the sequence of events have been handed over to the police for investigation.
The owner also thanked those who helped to share the previous post and showed concern over the matter.
Based on the recent post, the phone was a Samsung Galaxy A07 with 256GB of storage, worth around RM1,149.
