PENAMPANG: A 43-year-old local woman was arrested and suspected ketum liquid and leaves worth an estimated RM975 were seized during an operation in Putatan, said Penampang police chief Supt Sammy Newton.
He said a team from the Penampang Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division raided a house in Kampung Ulu Seberang, Putatan, at about 1pm on June 19 following information received.
During the raid, police detained the woman and seized 30 plastic bottles containing liquid believed to be ketum as well as a white plastic sack containing green leaves suspected to be ketum leaves.
Police also confiscated several items believed to have been used to process ketum liquid, he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952, while police have urged members of the public with information on drug-related activities or ketum distribution to contact the authorities.
