MELAKA police have revealed that the woman who recently alleged that her “husband” was wrongfully shot by officers in Durian Tunggal was, in fact, the girlfriend of one of the three men killed in the incident.
State Police Chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the 31-year-old unemployed woman was not the lawful spouse of the deceased.
“The woman is not his legal wife. The suspect in this incident has a wife who lives in Johor, but he had been living with his girlfriend in Durian Tunggal for the past three years,” he said.
According to Dzulkhairi, further investigation showed that the woman herself has 10 prior criminal records dating back to 2012, including cases of vehicle theft, robbery and attempted murder.
“The woman was also arrested in Jasin in connection with a robbery case in July,” he added.
He said the woman’s father, aged 55, also has 24 previous criminal records from 2022 onwards, with several cases resulting in convictions.
Dzulkhairi confirmed that the father remains wanted for investigations into vehicle theft and theft from buildings.
The disclosures follow the circulation of social media posts highlighting the criminal background of the woman and her father. The case has attracted heightened scrutiny after family members of the three deceased suspects publicly rejected police statements asserting that the men had attacked officers.
In response, Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department established a special task force to examine the family’s allegations and review the circumstances of the police operation.
The shootout occurred at around 4.30am when three men aged between 24 and 29 were shot dead after one of them allegedly swung a machete at a police corporal in an oil palm plantation in Durian Tunggal. The officer, in his early thirties, suffered serious injuries to his left arm.
Police believe the trio were involved in 20 criminal cases in Melaka, along with one case each in Negeri Sembilan and Selangor, with total estimated losses of RM1.35 million. - December 13, 2025
