Woman dies after jumping from van during argument with husband, say Police

A WOMAN who was found dead on the Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas) had jumped from a van after an argument with her husband, police said, citing preliminary findings from an ongoing investigation.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the incident occurred after a disagreement between the couple regarding the woman’s use of the van, as she did not hold a valid driver’s licence.

“Investigations found that a quarrel took place before the incident over the wife’s use of the van without a licence,” he said. “During the argument, she threatened to jump out and then actually did so. The husband continued his journey home.”

Rusdi told reporters this during a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Police Headquarters on Thursday.

The 50-year-ld husband was arrested at his home in Taman Kinrara, Puchong, Selangor, later that same day.

“The suspect is currently under a four-day remand until this Saturday to assist with investigations under Section 304A of the Penal Code,” he said.

The incident occurred around 2.35pm on Tuesday, when police received a report from a passerby who saw the woman fall from the van. The vehicle was then seen leaving the scene.

Police confirmed that the 44-year-old woman had died at the scene. Her husband, who works as an air-conditioner deliveryman, was arrested at approximately 6pm on the same day.

Authorities also revealed that the suspect has one prior criminal record and two drug-related offences. - May 8, 2025
