- A woman died following a medical emergency on Southbourne beach in Dorset on Monday, 22 June.
- Emergency services were called to the scene at 2.21pm, but the individual was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.
- Dorset Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious, with the next of kin informed and the coroner notified.
- The incident coincides with Met Office warnings of a 'heat-dome' bringing temperatures up to 40C to parts of England and Wales, with a red weather warning for extreme heat commencing on Wednesday.
- This follows previous warnings about the dangers of open water during heatwaves, after at least 15 people died in similar incidents across the UK in late May and early June.
