“Luckily my child hadn’t eaten the chicken yet… when we opened it, she screamed, “Mamaaaa! There are maggots!””
A Malaysian woman was left horrified after discovering that the fried chicken she bought from a Ramadan bazaar in Taiping was infested with maggots.
In a TikTok video, worms could be seen wriggling inside the fried chicken.
Her daughter made the shocking discovery but, fortunately, had not eaten any of it.
“Luckily my child hadn’t eaten the chicken yet… when we opened it, she screamed, “Mamaaaa! There are maggots!””

In her post, the woman explained that she had deliberately chosen not to cook that day so she could support food vendors at the Ramadan bazaar in Taman Jana, Taiping.
“But I didn’t expect this to be the “blessing” I’d receive instead. I’m so sad and disappointed when traders are dishonest like this.”
She also reminded food sellers not to compromise on hygiene and quality in pursuit of profit.
“Please, if you want to do business, do it with integrity and sincerity. We’re paying with our own money, not asking for free food.
“Don’t neglect cleanliness and food quality just to make quick profits. It’s not just about losing money — it completely spoiled my family’s mood for breaking fast!
“I absolutely do not forgive (or “halalkan”) the money I paid for food like this. Hopefully this serves as a lesson to other vendors too.”
