A woman driver who rammed a motorcyclist in a viral video was found to be drunk and has pleaded guilty in court.

KUALA LUMPUR: A woman driver who rammed a motorcyclist at a traffic light junction along Jalan Genting Klang near the Wangsa Maju Road Transport Department (JPJ) building was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the woman who was driving a BMW failed to stop when the light turn red and rammed a Yamaha motorcycle travelling straight in the direction of a green light.

“An alcohol test administered to the car driver, a woman, 42, had a reading of 183mg/100ml,” he said in a statement today, adding that the driver plead guilty at the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Court today after being charged under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Investigations are still ongoing under Section 42(1) of the same Act for dangerous driving, he said.

The crash caused the motorcyclist, a man, 25, to suffer minor injuries, while the pillon rider, a teenage girl, 15, escaped unhurt.

Eyewitnesses or those with information about the incident are urged to assist with investigations by contacting the Tun H S Lee Traffic Police Station at 03-2071 9999 or the nearest police station.
