A 31-YEAR-OLD woman lost her life on Wednesday morning after being struck by a container truck while changing the tyre of her sport utility vehicle (SUV) on the North-South Expressway southbound at kilometre 260.6, authorities confirmed.
The victim, Nurul Amirah Hamdan, who worked for a water filtration company, was en route to her office in Senawang when the incident occurred around 9.20 a.m.
Her colleague, Nur Affiqah Jamran, 30, recounted the shock of learning about the accident.
“We were supposed to have a meeting with her this morning, but it was unusual that she hadn’t arrived at the office. I was then contacted by her housemate who told me she had been in an accident.
My colleague and I rushed to the scene, but by the time we arrived, she had already passed away, and her body had been covered with a white cloth,” Nur Affiqah said.
She added that the tragedy was particularly heartbreaking because Nurul Amirah had been changing a flat tyre at the time of the collision. “
She was a good friend and very easy to get along with,” she recalled.
According to Seremban District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Azahar Abdul Rahman, Nurul Amirah had stopped her Proton X50 in the emergency lane after noticing that the rear right tyre had gone flat.
“While changing the tyre, a container truck driven by a 24-year-old man in the left lane collided with her.
As a result, she sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been transported to Rembau Hospital for further procedures,” he said.
Authorities have urged anyone with information about the accident to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Nor Fadzilah Mohd Zainuddin, at 019-4611794 or to report to the nearest police station to assist in the ongoing investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and inquiries are continuing to determine the full circumstances of the fatal collision. - November 19, 2025
