A WOMAN was found dead inside a locked house in Kampung Cheh Hilir here on Sunday night, prompting an emergency response from fire and rescue personnel after concerns were raised by the public.
Acting Assistant Director of Operations of the Perak Fire and Rescue Department, Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah, said authorities received an emergency call via the 999 hotline at 8.44pm.
Firefighters from the Kuala Kangsar Fire and Rescue Station were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they discovered that the door to the house was locked from the inside.
“Once the door was successfully opened using special equipment, a woman estimated to be around 55 years old was found lying face down in the kitchen area in an unconscious state.
“Further examination by the Ministry of Health, which was also present at the scene, confirmed that the victim had passed away,” he said in a statement on Monday.
Shazlean said that following police investigations at the scene, fire personnel assisted in removing the victim’s body from the house.
“The operation involved 12 personnel with the support of two fire engines and was concluded at 9.35pm,” he added.
The cause of death has not been disclosed, and the case remains under police investigation. - January 12, 2026
