TAWAU: A 30-year-old woman and an eight-year-old girl were injured after a Proton Saga they were travelling in skidded and crashed into a tree along Jalan Kampung Tanjung Batu Laut early Thursday morning.

Tawau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Jemishin Ujin said the woman suffered a broken leg, while the girl sustained minor injuries.

Both victims received initial treatment from the Fire and Rescue Department’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team before being rushed to Tawau Hospital for further care.

The department received an emergency call at 4.24am, and a team of eight personnel was dispatched to the scene, located about 4km from the station.

“The team, led by Operations Commander PBK I Jehrey Ibno, arrived nine minutes later and immediately carried out rescue operations involving a car believed to have skidded on its own,” he said.

The operation concluded at 4.49am after firefighters ensured the area was safe. Police were also present to assist with investigations and traffic control.
