LAHAD DATU: A woman was killed while 13 others were injured after their four-wheel-drive skidded and plunged into a 15-meter deep ditch at Ladang Permai, here, Wednesday.

The State Fire and Rescue Department said it received a distress call following the incident at 5.53am.

A team of Fire and Rescue personnel rushed to the scene and arrived at 6.08am.

“Fifteen people comprising seven men, a boy and seven women were involved and taken out by members of the public before the Fire and Rescue team arrived,” said the department.

The team assisted in lifting the victims up to the road.

A 33-year-old woman was confirmed dead by Ministry of Health personnel and her body was handed over to the police for further action.

The department said 13 other victims who were injured, as well as the driver, were taken to the hospital in ambulances for further treatment.

The operation ended at 8.53am after no other dangers were detected at the scene. Picture (left) shows Fire and Rescue personnel taking the victims into an ambulance.
