BEAUFORT: A 67-year-old woman died and two others were injured when travelling in a Perodua Axia and involved in an accident with a Toyota Hilux at Kg Lupak, here, at 7.15pm on Thursday.

District Police Chief here, DSP Ismail Abdullah said the accident was believed to be caused by an Axia driver who lost control of the wheel and veered onto the opposite lane prior to the collision.

“Results of our investigation showed that the accident happened when the driver of the Toyota Hilux was heading from Pekan Beaufort to Kg Kebunau Gadong while the Axia with three passengers, including the elderly woman, were travelling from Kg Batandok headed to Beaufort Town.

“When arriving at the accident scene, the Axia driver lost control of the wheel and entered the right lane and collided with the Toyota Hilux coming from the opposite direction.

He said the elderly woman who was among the passengers in the Axia car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ismail said this case was investigated under Sec. 41 (1) Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing death.
