A woman died and two others were injured after their car was hit by a sedan on the Shah Alam Expressway near Shah Alam last night.
SHAH ALAM: A woman died while two others, a mother and her son, were injured after the car they were in was involved in an accident on the Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS) near here last night.
Shah Alam police chief ACP Sarudin Samah said that in the 11.30 pm incident, the car, driven by a local woman in her 20s, was believed to have been hit by a sedan that lost control at Kilometre 30.7 of the expressway.
“The survivors, who are the driver’s sister-in-law and a nine-year-old boy, sustained head and facial injuries and are receiving treatment at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang,” he said in a statement today.
Sarudin said police are tracking down a suspect, believed to be a local man in his 50s, to assist in the investigation.
In the same statement, he urged the public with information about the accident to contact the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) Investigating Officer of the Shah Alam district police headquarters, Inspector Muhammad Najib Abdul Rahman, at 019-7757354.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Earlier, a video circulated on social media showing an overturned car on the KESAS highway with claims that the victims were hit by a driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.
