A 23-YEAR-OLD woman was killed while two men sustained injuries in a collision involving two vehicles at a traffic light junction in Vista Perdana, Miri, in the early hours of Sunday.

The victim, identified as Easther Natasha Mulin, was a passenger in a Perodua Bezza involved in the crash, which occurred at about 3am.

A spokesperson for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s operations centre said an emergency call was received at 3.05am, prompting a response team from the Lopeng fire station to be dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, it was confirmed that an accident involving two vehicles had occurred.

“One female victim was still inside the car, while two other victims had already been transported to hospital by the Ministry of Health Malaysia,” the spokesperson said.

Firefighters extricated the woman using a stretcher, but medical personnel at the scene later confirmed that she had died.

Her body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action.

The two injured victims — the driver of the Perodua Bezza and the driver of a Mazda four-wheel-drive vehicle — are receiving treatment in hospital.

The operation concluded at 4.15am after authorities confirmed that the situation was fully under control. - March 22, 2026
