Woman killed, two others seriously injured in George Town pre-dawn crash

GEORGE TOWN: A woman was killed while two men suffered serious injuries after the car they were in veered off the road before hitting a tree in Macalister Road here early today.

Foo Yu Xuan, 24, who was driving a Volkswagen car, died at the scene after sustaining severe injuries.

Penang Fire and Rescue Department operations officer Sha’ari Mansor said a distress call on the incident was received at 4.20 am, and a team from the Jalan Perak fire station was deployed to the scene.

“As soon as the firefighters arrived, they found a car, believed to have veered off the road before ramming into a tree, with three victims inside the vehicle.

“We began extricating the two men and a woman who were trapped in the car, and all of them were successfully removed at 5.27 am, before a medical team confirmed that the female victim had died,“ he said here today.
